  I'm writing a Python script to process emails returned from Procmail.   I'm trying to produce a page with a list of specific nodes but the node_view returns an empty string. I have used the blog.module as a reference, but what am I missing here?

It simply doesn't appear to be sorting... I'm also trying to delete the array element if it's a duplicate and whose dis value is higher than the other one. • Why do programmers have to learn for their whole lives and aren't you afraid of that?

  Programming technologies are evolving so fast that programmers constantly have to learn more and more to catch up whether you want it or not. Often it is not just learning more in the same direction but starting from a scratch. Lets say you were a topnotch programmer in 1999 who quit for 10 years and went to a job interview in 2009 (funny even to imagine) - how much of your knowledge is still needed? And if we take a carpenter, engineer, doctor or even mathematician - they all are still good specialists after 10 years. So why programming is so not stable? Is it because it is just relatively new or because something important is still missing after 50 years and we can't find it to settle in that direction? Do you think after some time situation will change? Learning something new all the time is exciting and all, but it is starting to worry me that as I become older it will be harder and harder. After all "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" and I'm afraid that at the end I just end up behind college students and become one of those "cobol dinosaurs", only it will be probably "java dinosaurs" by that time.

• Updating multiple divs w/ RJS/AJAX

  I am successfully using RJS to implement AJAX on a page.replace.html create.js.rjs. I am attempting to update two locations instead of one and after watching Ryan Bates Railscast I am very close (I think) but have a problem in the syntax of my /views/likes/create.js.rjs file. Here is the situation: located at /views/likes/create.js.rjs is the following code: page.replace_html "votes_#{ @site.id }", :partial => @like page.replace_html "counter", 10 - (@question.likes.count :conditions => {:user_id => current_user.id}) page[@like].visual_effect :highlight My problem lies in the second line. The div "counter" displays the following code in the /views/question/show.html.erb page: <div id="counter"> You have <%= 10 - (@question.likes.count :conditions => {:user_id => current_user.id}) %> votes remaining for this question </div> From watching the screen cast I believe that my error has to do w/ the syntax of the second line. Specifically he mentions that you cannot use a local instance variable but not sure how to make the change. Thoughts?

  I have a UILabel for each cell at cellForRowAtIndexPath. UILabel *cellLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:frame]; cellLabel.text = myString; I want to access that string "myString" at didSelectRowAtIndexPath using indexpath. NSString *anotherString = cell.textLabel.text; returns null. Now if at cellForRowAtIndexPath, I did something like cell.textLabel.text = theString; then the didSelectRowAtIndexPath returns the appropriate cell. My question is, how can I access the text in the UILabel I apply to the cell, at didSelectRowAtIndexPath?   Consider the following code: writer.c mkfifo("/tmp/myfifo", 0660); int fd = open("/tmp/myfifo", O_WRONLY); char *foo, *bar; ... write(fd, foo, strlen(foo)*sizeof(char)); write(fd, bar, strlen(bar)*sizeof(char)); reader.c int fd = open("/tmp/myfifo", O_RDONLY); char buf[100]; read(fd, buf, ??); My question is: Since it's not know before hand how many bytes will foo and bar have, how can I know how many bytes to read from reader.c? Because if I, for example, read 10 bytes in reader and foo and bar are together less than 10 bytes, I will have them both in the same variable and that I do not want. Ideally I would have one read function for every variable, but again I don't know before hand how many bytes will the data have. I thought about adding another write instruction in writer.c between the write for foo and bar with a separator and then I would have no problem decoding it from reader.c. Is this the way to go about it? Thanks.

  hey guys assuming i have a table named t1 with following fields: ROWID, CID, PID, Score, SortKey it has the following data: 1, C1, P1, 10, 1 2, C1, P2, 20, 2 3, C1, P3, 30, 3 4, C2, P4, 20, 3 5, C2, P5, 30, 2 6, C3, P6, 10, 1 7, C3, P7, 20, 2 what query do i write so that it applies group by on CID, but instead of returning me 1 single result per group, it returns me a max of 2 results per group. also where condition is score = 20 and i want the results ordered by CID and SortKey. If I had to run my query on above data, i would expect the following result: RESULTS FOR C1 - note: ROWID 1 is not considered as its score < 20 C1, P2, 20, 2 C1, P3, 30, 3 RESULTS FOR C2 - note: ROWID 5 appears before ROWID 4 as ROWID 5 has lesser value SortKey C2, P5, 30, 2 C2, P4, 20, 3 RESULTS FOR C3 - note: ROWID 6 does not appear as its score is less than 20 so only 1 record returned here C3, P7, 20, 2 IN SHORT, I WANT A LIMIT WITHIN A GROUP BY.   I am nesting a JPanel inside a JTabbedPane. I am having trouble displaying all the content inside of the JTabbedPane. The outside borders of the internal content get chopped off. I am currently not using a Layout Manager for my JTabbedPane or dummy Panel because it stretches my content automatically. How do I add a JPanel inside the JTabbedPane so that I can have an even border around all the content.My attempts to create a dummy panel and setting a border for the inner panel using BorderFactory haven't worked. Is there a convention that I need to know to do this correctly?   Hi Guys, I am relatively new with sql and I need some help with some basic query construction. Problem: To retrieve the number of orders and the customer id from a table based on a set of parameters. I want to write a query to figure out the number of orders under each customer (Column: Customerid) along with the CustomerID where the number of orders should be greater or equal to 10 and the status of the order should be Active. Moreover, I also want to know the first transaction date of an order belonging to each customerid. Table Description: product_orders Orderid CustomerId Transaction_date Status ------- ---------- ---------------- ------- 1 23 2-2-10 Active 2 22 2-3-10 Active 3 23 2-3-10 Deleted 4 23 2-3-10 Active Query that I have written: select count(*), customerid from product_orders where status = 'Active' GROUP BY customerid ORDER BY customerid; The above statement gives me the sum of all order under a customer id but does not fulfil the condition of atleast 10 orders. I donot know how to display the first transaction date along with the order under a customerid (status: could be active or delelted doesn't matter) Ideal solutions should look like: Total Orders CustomerID Transaction Date (the first transaction date) ------------ ---------- ---------------- 11 23 1-2-10 Thanks in advance. I've already got a table-valued-function that accepts an address ID, and returns all fields for that ID, but not sure how to integrate it into my required result. Off hand, it looks like 3 selects to create this table - 1: Location, 2: Mailing address, 3: Billing address. What I'd like to do is just create a view and use that. Any assistance would be helpful.   I am currently reading this documentation here where I want to use CRON. Now it says in the first section that I need to enter in a command: crontab -e. Do I only need to enter this in a simple text editor file and just upload the file into the server? • Zend_ACL isAllowed causes issues with dojo

  Hi all, I got an issue setting up Zend_Acl, I got it pretty well setup and running but I realised that in some forms where I'm using zend_dojo, dojo doesn't actualy gets loaded. Without going to I have setup my access list, as soon as I call the line isAllowed with the name of the resource taken from the request object, dojo is not loaded (I think) This is the code that breaks dojo: class MyPluginAcl extends Zend_Controller_Plugin_Abstract { public function __construct(Zend_Acl $acl) { $this->_acl = $acl; } public function preDispatch(Zend_Controller_Request_Abstract $request) { ..... $role = "guest" $resource = $request->getControllerName(); var_dump($resource) //Returns string(10)'myresource' $action = $request->getActionName(); if (!$this->_acl->isAllowed($role, $resource,$action)){ //Code to redirect somewhere } ...... } The thing that doesn't make sense are the following: If I do a var_dump($resource) I get a string(10)'myresource', still doesn't work If I set the $resource to be $resource = new Zend_Acl_Resource($request->getControllerName()); still doesn't work , but If I set $resource to have a string value, this whole thing works (eg. $resources = "myresource; it works. • Quartz 2D or OpenGL ES? Pros and cons in the long term, possibility of migration to other platforms.

  Hi all! I'm having a hard time deciding whether to go with Quartz2D or OpenGL for an iPad game. It will be 2D mostly, but effect-intense (simultaneous lighting effects for 10-30 objects, 10-20 simultaneous animations on the screen). So far, assuming i'm equally dumb in both technologies and have to learn them from the ground, i came to this list. (I've read several topics here, on SO, with names like "Quartz or OpenGL", but i'm still left with some questions) Quartz: Better time-to-market, because of ready to use absractions like UIView, UIImageView, CoreAnimation abstractions Open GL ES Closer to hardware, thus, performance is better. App, implemented with OpenGL ES can be easier migrated to Android, MeeGo, Windows Phone, etc. My questions are: How time will it take to rewrite Quartz 2d app to use OpenGL? Lets say it took me 2 man-month to write Quartz app, how much time will i need to rewrite it? (Please, just some subjective opinions, i'll try to summarize them somehow) Regarding the ease of migration to other platforms, when using OpenGL, is it really so? Or efforts when migrating Quartz app from iPhoneOS to Android will be not so much bigger, compared to OpenGL app migration? (Ease of migration is quite important criterion) Regarding OpenGL, should i go with OpenGL 1.1 or 2.0, concerning migration? (Android supports 2.0 through NDK, but dont know whether NDK's use will increase or decrease migration efforts)

With this done, now I am trying to run some simple codes from the internet to get acquainted with the OpenCV. I am just trying to display video from webcam and I am getting the following error..
